Replanting For The Future
In the January of 2018, Good Hope Baptist Church partnered with The Pillar Network to see a new work started in the Youngsville community. With the new and rapid growth of their community, Good Hope wanted to see if replanting was the right option for them. Cody Evans and Ryan Phillips were sent by Open Door Church to help lead the church into a new direction. At the end of July 2018, the congregation of GHBC voted overwhelmingly to replant itself and become Covenant Hope Church. Covenant Hope Church is now working to build a foundation on the gospel mission for the purpose of making mature disciples, so that they can impact Youngsville, North Carolina, and the world with the hope that only Jesus can bring.
Honoring Our Past
It’s estimated that around 1,000 churches are lost every year in the Southern Baptist Convention alone. “Replanting” a church happens when a church determines to restart the legacy of ministry and missions that once existed. While church planting efforts birth a brand new church, replanting is a sort of “two for one”: birthing a new church while also helping out an existing church that is in decline.
